Extra Credit Opportunity: Poet

Poet Oliver de la Paz will give a reading this coming Thursday, February 25, in the Governor’s Room, at the Overman Student Center, at 8:00 p.m.  This is the second Distinguished Visiting Writer event of the semester.  De la Paz writes poetry that has an appealing style: Here’s the opening of “The Devil’s Hour”: “The devil of my nights is a coyote,/ fevered, starved for the scent/ of rabbit and squirrel, his muzzle plush/ with winter fur.” De la Paz is the author of three collections of poetry: Names Above Houses, Furious Lullaby, and the forthcoming Requiem for the Orchard, winner of the Akron Prize for poetry.
