Extra Credit Opportunity: Distinguished Visiting Writer David Huddle

David Huddle will read fiction and a bit of poetry at 8 pm in GH 109 on Thursday, Sept 16..  This will be the first reading in the Distinguished Visiting Writers Series for this school year.  Please encourage your students to come.  Huddle’s writing has a mix of humanity and imagination that your students will enjoy.  One of his poems (“Deathlight”) has these lines: “Up on the mountain, the path/ to Johnson Pond leads down through deepening/ layers of darkness.  Then it opens onto/ silvery water with cool air rising/ to your skin like death giving you a peck/ on the cheek, so gently reminding you/ of your true destination that you think,/ Oh this is not bad, this is kind of nice.”
You can read a bit more of his work here:
As always, after the reading there will be a reception with plenty of good food for everyone.
