Extra Credit Opportunity: Latino Culture Lecture

Dr. Jose B. Gonzalez, English faculty at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, will give a lecture entitled “And I Thought Aliens Didn’t Eat Rice & Beans: Poetry, laughter, social thought and the evolution of the word Latino” on Wednesday, September 22 at 2pm in the Governors Room.

Dr. Gonzalez is a lively, engaging speaker and is the past winner of the AAHHE Outstanding Latino Faculty of the Year and the Connecticut Higher Education Multicultural Faculty of the Year awards. Dr. Gonzalez was also named the 2006 Poet of the Year by the New England Association of Teachers of English.
